TALE Project

  • Project framework: Erasmus+ / Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices

  • Action type: Strategic Partnerships for higher education

  • Project reference:

  • Duration: September 2016 – September 2018

  • Website: http://taleproject.eu/

The TALE programme aims to develop an efficient and sustainable training infrastructure for English Language Teaching (ELT) educators who wish to enhance their skills in language learning. It places strong emphasis on the inclusion of learners as integral parts of an effective collaborative environment, as well as on enabling students to evaluate their own learning. To this end, it focuses on how to create high-quality assessment materials and adopt appropriate assessment procedures within one’s teaching practice.

The programme offers eight distinct open-access courses for language learning. In addition to ELT educators, TALE courses can also benefit other foreign language teachers. The project’s main target audiences are:

  1. English language teachers (ELT)

  2. Learners of English

  3. Teacher trainers in adult education

  4. Experts and researchers in the field of language testing and assessment

  5. Pre-service and in-service foreign language teachers (other than English)

In each participating country, two events will be held to disseminate the results of the needs analysis and the online training cycle, respectively. These events will primarily involve ELT educators, as well as participants from the last three stakeholder groups listed above.

Towards the end of the project, a final conference will be organised to raise awareness of the project’s main intellectual outputs: the needs analysis, the online course, and the handbook.
